Bjorn for sale
May 26Bjorn is Devin’s 1989 Volvo 740 GL.
This car is being sold as a parts car, or a daily driver for someone who wants to put at least $600 of work into it.
Our price is $800 or best offer. If no buyers are found, we will begin to sell parts individually but, considering that the car is still in decent condition, would hate to pick it apart.
Car:
- 1989 740GL Wagon, Blue
- engine, b230F
- Transmission, AW70/71
- 146,206 miles on odometer, didn’t notice if it works, I think it does (hasn’t been driven in a while, and since we bought it, was only driven 3 miles home)
What’s wrong with it?
for it’s age, it ran strong. The following parts are missing (or have been replaced with failed parts from another car)
- all four fuel injectors were parted out (replaced with bad ones)
- overdrive solenoid (my suggestion is to get IPD solenoid replacement and bypass the overdrive relay altogether)
- Passenger front door lock actuator
- tires are flat (at least 2)
- no stereo, antenna intact but not functional
- Battery not currently installed
- rear hatch strut starting to fail (stays up when cold) – broomstick included!
- crack in the windshield
Temperature gauge wasn’t working when we got the car. Headliner is worn, but we bought the material to re-do it – never got around to it, will include that and spray adhesive with the car. Seats and everything are in good condition, but are not bolted in. Carpets are missing because they were filthy from the previous owner. Pretty much, most parts from the interior are sitting inside the car, detached but everything has mostly been cleaned. Not sure if the AC works, but looks like it’s been converted to RC134, not sure.
If you want it as daily driver, I will put all the trim panels back together and seats back on, but still missing carpet – you can get replacement carpet cheap at an automotive parts store, or order custom fitted volvo carpet online – you don’t want the old carpet, I promise.
The car’s virtues:
- Manual sunroof works, no leaks
- paint still in good condition, a little oxidized but I waxed and buffed-nice and shiny
- brand new (rebuilt – from autozone) power steering rack, tie-rod ends, and sway bar links
- clean texas title
- all wire harnesses are in good condition with no visible corrosion in engine or elsewhere
